Tree Tip

How can I make my tree's trunk thick and strong?

Removing the narrow nursery stake attached to the trunk of the tree, and only using the two large stakes placed about 18 inches from the trunk will help your young tree. When the tree can flex in the wind, it will create strong reaction wood that will strengthen and support it. When the tree can hold itself upright well on its own it is time to remove the stakes altogether; the sooner you do, the stronger the tree will be.
